Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is available to a foreign nationals who are married to a Filipino citizen, recognized by Philippine laws, but whose country does not have an existing reciprocity agreement with the Philippines. It is also granted to their unmarried children under twenty-one (21) years old, allowing them to live legally in the Philippines.
What are the Requirements for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)?
The visa application process may include applying for an Immigrant Visa by Marriage, an ACR I-card, and other requirements. To proceed, the applicant must submit the following necessary requirements:
- Joint letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the applicant and the petitioner
- Duly accomplished application form for Non-Immigrant Visa
- Photocopy of passport bio-page and latest admission with valid authorized stay (at least 30 days from date of filing)
- Birth Certificate of the petitioning Filipino spouse or certified true copy of BI-issued Identification Certificate (IC) as Filipino citizen of the petitioning Filipino spouse
- Marriage Certificate or Marriage Contract
- Valid National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance, if application is filed six (6) months or more from the date of first arrival in the Philippines
- BI Clearance Certificate
- Original or certified true copy of Bureau of Quarantine Medical Clearance, if applicant is a national of any of the countries listed under Annex “A” of Immigration Operations Order No. SBM-14-059-A who arrived in the Philippines on or after June 2014
Upon approval of the visa, the applicant will be granted to enter the Philippines and live as a permanent resident. However, if the applicants abandons their existing application or fails to comply with the visa conditions, the visa may be revoked and required to be surrendered to the Bureau of Immigration’s main office.
What is the Validity of Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)?
The Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is valid for a probationary period of one (1) year and may be extended every two (2) years, subject to re-evaluation by the Bureau of Immigration (BI). A conversion to a five (5)-year TRV can be applied provided the conditions are maintained (i.e. valid marriage with a Filipino citizen), and can be extended as needed.
It is recommended that the applicant must have continuous physical presence in the Philippines during the visa processing period to avoid the need for revalidation. Additionally, the applicant must have a valid Philippine visa (i.e. tourist visa) for at least one (1) month upon application for TRV.

can a foreign married to a filipina for 30 yrs can still obtain a temporary resident visa if the filipina wife died of covid 2 yrs ago? they have applied for a trv before which was approved but when but by time it was released they have already go back to their country

Does a probationary visa or Trv need to be filed again 3 months in advance to avoid penalties. Also what is the time frame if expired to file.
Sir/Madam, I want to ask you regarding husband, he is an Egyptian, we are currently working in KSA and every time we are coming for vacation in Philippines, they are asking more requirements in Philippines embassy in Jeddah, now they are proposing to apply temporary resident visa for my husband, when we come to Philippines, I want to know if the temporary resident visa is enough requirement for entry and re-entry or same as visa every time we are coming to Philippines with my husband? Or still he needs to apply for temporary visit visa to Philippines in order to enter Philippines?
