Understanding the Significance of Quota Immigrant Visa (13) in the Philippines

What is a Quota Immigrant Visa (13)?

Under the reciprocity principle, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) grants Quota Immigrant Visas to citizens of the country with diplomatic ties to the Philippines and grants the same immigration privileges to Filipinos.

Every year, fifty (50) individuals of any one nationality are granted a Quota visa. The special qualifications of the foreign national, such as high educational attainment, technical knowledge, unique experience, or exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, professions, or business that will benefit the national economy or be of national interest, are another preference for the Quota Immigrant Visa. Additionally, the applicant needs to have a sustainable investment that the BI Commissioner must authorize.

The principal’s dependents, such as spouses or minor children who are lawfully permanent residents of the Philippines, will be granted a Quota Visa.

What are the Benefits of Having a Quota Immigrant Visa (13) in the Philippines?

Having a Quota Immigrant Visa (13) in the Philippines possessed the following benefits:

  • A lifetime residence with minimal reporting and lifetime work entitlement;
  • Has a five (5) years validity ACR Card which can be renewed easily;
  • No other reporting obligations whenever the quota visa holder leave the country;
  • Authorized to do business (in the sectors permitted under the laws of the Philippines) without needing to obtain an Alien Employment Permit (AEP); and
